Will Connell (aka Billy Hoyle) is a Byron Bay based funk, R&B and hip-hop DJ with 15 years’ experience in events, weddings, parties and clubs and corporate functions.
As an ARIA award winning producer, for his work on Illy’s 2012 album Bring It Back, Will’s background is in hip-hop, though he performs a vast range of musical styles to suit different demographics and occasions. Genres include but are not limited to: funk, soul, R&B, hip-hop, disco, house, rock, jazz, world, Latin, reggae, pop, hits from the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, 2000s and current.
Having begun his DJ career studying the art of turntablism, Will developed his skills as a party-rocker; collecting an array of dancefloor friendly records. Just as comfortable setting the mood with background tunes as he is working a prime-time dancefloor, Will manages to smoothly blend these different styles into an eclectic and interesting set.
Also known for his production work, Will is one half of the hip-hop duo Man Made Mountain on the Melbourne label House of Beige, and has had his Jackson 5 Remix played multiple times by the legend DJ Jazzy Jeff.
